Canvas Course Shell Templates - Homepage

Welcome to the Canvas Course Development Site

  

Our goal for this site is to provide you with some beginning ideas, checklists, templates, rubrics, etc. for how you can start building and organizing your classes in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). To begin, we have developed a range of course development checklists and rubrics that you can use to help support and guide you as you design and build your classes. In addition, there are three suggested templates that you can use to help organize and present your courses using Canvas content pages. These templates may be accessed by clicking on the corresponding images below. Ideally, these templates should help you to not only have a better idea for how to organize your classes in Canvas, but also apply some of the course development skills and guidelines from above. Overall, the goal is to develop courses that help students to engage more deeply with the content/skills of your course.

Once you are able to organize and present your course using one of the three templates above, you might also want to design a course homepage following one of the templates (like this one!). Click here to see an example of a course homepage. After you have developed this page, you can then set this as your homepage in Canvas. Click on the image below to learn how to do this:
