Option #2 - Simple text with embedded content - Page
Welcome to the 'Text with Embedded Content' Template!
_____________________________________________________
The purpose of this sample is to demonstrate what a module/unit for one of your courses might look like if you used a content page in Canvas that has simple text with embedded content for one of your modules/units (click here for a module/unit checklist as well as a checklist for course organization guidelines
). This format is recommended over and above the simple text with links format because it can be more engaging for students. However, there is also a danger that the embedded content distracts from learning rather than adding to it. In general, only use embedded content that directly supports the content/skill objectives being pursued in the course. Click on the images below to see course organization and multimedia guidelines as well as a module/unit checklist. We also recommend that you start by first visiting the simple text with links page in order to obtain a template that you can then embed your content into.
The objective for this sample is listed below:
- You will be able to create your own Canvas page with embedded content specifically for images, videos, and PowerPoint presentations.
This objective aligns with the overall goal of this Course Development Site which seeks to help you to have the resources and templates that you need to further develop your own course components in Canvas.

To pursue these objectives, the following will be provided for you in this sample:
(Click on the image below for a video introduction. Note: When I say "Angel page," I really mean "Canvas page.")
- Activity#1: View an example of part of an actual module from a class that uses a Canvas content page with embedded content - 5-7 minutes. Click on the image below to view this example:
- Activity #2: Watch a series of brief tutorials that will demonstrate how you can create your own Canvas page with embedded content images, videos, and PowerPoint presentations - 15 minutes. Click on the image below to begin to review these:
Overall, you can expect to spend no more than about 10-20 minutes on this template. In order to use this, only an introductory knowledge of Canvas is necessary, though some of the tutorial steps may seem more complex at first (click here to visit the Canvas Faculty Training Course for more resources and support). But don't worry, if you need help then please do not hesitate to contact the IT Department by emailing pchelp@csm.edu.
