Background:
The conflict known as the Religious Crusades dominated the later years of the medieval period in Europe. This conflict pitted the Christian Knights of Europe against the Muslims who controlled the holy lands in the Middle East. Even though this conflict took the lives of many, caused damage and destruction throughout the region, it did also reintroduce Europeans to the world outside of their continent.
